Dr. Marc Remacle

Le Dr Marc Remacle a été nommé Professeur académique à l’Université de Louvain en Belgique. Il a été chef de service associé du service d’oto-rhino-laryngologie et de chirurgie cervico-faciale des Cliniques Universitaires de Mont-Godinne jusqu’en septembre 2015.
Agrégé de l’enseignement supérieur, il a contribué au développement de la maîtrise en logopédie interuniversitaire, qui a associé l’Université Catholique de Louvain et l’Université libre de Bruxelles.
ORL de formation , il s’est orienté progressivement vers la laryngologie et la phoniatrie qu’il exerce à temps plein. Il est actuellement coopérant dans le service d’ORL et de chirurgie cervico-faciale du CHL , Luxembourg où il est en chargé de l’unité de trouble de la voix et de la déglutition.
Sur le plan scientifique, ses travaux ont porté surtout sur la mise au point et le traitement des troubles de la voix.
Son intérêt pour la chirurgie assistée au laser l’a conduit à contribuer au développement d’instruments comme le micromanipulateur et le scanner ou encore le guide d’onde Co2 qui ont permit une chirurgie de grande précison. Il a aussi mis au point des micro-instruments chirurgicaux ensemble avec le Prof. Lawson, il a initié la chirurgie robotique ( TORS) en Belgique.
Il collabore actuellement au développement d’un robot dédicacé à la chirurgie de la gorge, le flex system.
Membre de nombreuses sociétés scientifiques, il a été le secrétaire général de la société européenne de laryngologie dont il est un membre fondateur. Il assure également le secrétariat de l’association internationale de phonochirurgie et il préside le comité en charge des relations internationales de l’ABEA (American broncho-esophagological association) dont il est le premier membre étranger à être élu à cette fonction.
Il est membre de l’international steering committe de l’American academy of ORL-Head & Neck surgery (AAOHNS)nIl a également été président de la confédération européenne d’ORL et de chirurgie cervico-faciale qui réunit toutes les sociétés scientifiques liées à l’ORL. Il est membre d’honneur des sociétés ORL espagnole et autrichienne.
Il a été invité d’honneur le l’American laryngological association. Il a été co-éditeur ou auteur de chapitres de plusieurs livres et a publié plus de 200 articles de langue anglaise et française dans des revues scientifiques avec comité de revue scientifique. Il est co-éditeur en chef des European archives of ORL-head & Neck surgery qui est la revue européenne la plus importante dans ce domainenIl est aussi dans le bureau éditorial de plusieurs revues comme les Annales européennes d’ORL et de chirurgie cervico-faciale (Paris)nB-ENTnAnnals of Otology, Rhinology & LaryngologynLaryngoscopen.

Dr Marc Remacle is an Academic Professor of the faculty of Medecine at the University of Louvain, Belgium. He is consultant in the department of ORL and Head & Neck surgery of CHL, Luxembourg.
He is also director of the Voice and swallowing centernDr Remacle chaired the joint commission of the Free University of Brussels and the Catholic University of Louvain for the master’s degree in Logopedics.
His interest in Laser surgery led him to contribute to the development of dedicated devices as the micromanipulator and microinstruments. He initiated the new scanner and the new robotic micromanipulator for laser- assisted incision and dissection.
He contributed to the development of the Co2 laser wave-guide. Together with his colleague Prof Georges Lawson , they have initiated the TORS in BelgiumnHe presented numerous communications and published papers mainly on laser-assisted microsurgery and microphonosurgery.
He regularly takes part in International courses and conferences on laser microsurgery.
